Rediscovering the Plot
Ps Samuel Hari

Introduction

Gen 1:28

Be fruitful and multiply...

John15:16

You did not choose me...to bear fruit and that your fruit shall remain...

But our life hardly seems like it? Still struggling to pay the bills, health issues, etc. Why?

Could it be that we have lost the plot somewhere along the way? Let's take a look at some examples and see if some of these reflect our own lives...

Case 1

Num 21: 4Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way. 5 And the people spoke against God and against Moses: "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread."

Loathes-despise, disgust, find repugnant.

  1. The children of Israel were eating manna day in and day out and began to despise it. They were bored with it to the point that it became disgusting. They were looking for something new!

  2. We know that manna is a reflection of the word of God in our lives and sometimes, we can come to the point that we can say that we know it all and there's nothing new. We begin to seek out the sensational and even pastors, ministers are pressured into producing “new” revelations. Christians go seeking after “revelations” and “signs and wonders” like looking for the next great fix. The Bible talks about this in the end times...2 Tim 3:5,7; 2 Tim 4:3,4. We've had cycle after cycle of this and what do we get at the end of every cycle? Ministers falling, people disillusioned, etc.

  3. Sometimes, we have lost the plot just like the children of Israel.

  4. The wilderness is like our day to day lives. We face heat all day long from work, school, business, family...if we're not careful, our soul can get discouraged and we begin to despise the word! The last thing we look for when we're in trouble is the manna I.e. when we/our children fall sick what is the first thing we do? Look for doctor or do we get together and pray? Even if someone comes and tells us to pray or read the word when we are going through a tough time, we kind of nod but are disgusted on the inside...

  5. Nothing takes the place of a personal or simple bible study of 2-3 people blocks...manna! Low immune system...

  6. Manna is so basic! We want more! In our physical body we need the basic building blocks; we may not get in in our daily diet so we have food supplements that have what our body needs daily. If our body lacks the basic nutrients, our immune system will weaken or breakdown. Then we are prone to infections, disease, critical illnesses. Same thing on the spiritual basic building blocks...

To be continued....

Let The King Of Glory Come In
by David Lai

Text: Hab 2:14

We cannot see God but we can experience the manifestation of the Lord through His glory. Where the glory is there God is. Our purpose is to do the work of God & expand the kingdom of God. For this we need God's glory as behind the glory is the King of glory. Ps 24:7-10. Everything God creates reflects His glory. We are the everlasting doors and we were called from the beginning of time.

  • What did God breathe into Adam? Gen 2:7
  • The same Holy Spirit was breathed into the disciples. Jn 20:22
  • This is the Spirit of glory.1 Pet 4:14
  • That same spirit of glory is in us to bring Him glory.
  • We work to manifest His glory.

Ex: Do we control money or does money control us? If we were created for His glory, then everything we have is to bring Him glory by doing His work and expanding the Kingdom of God.

OWNERSHIP VS. STEWARDSHIP. EZE 28:11

  • God gave Lucifer stewardship but he wanted ownership and that brought his fall. Are we owners or stewards?
  • Adam received the original word from God but Satan twisted this word to Eve. Gen 3:1-5
  • Eve was given stewardship but she wanted ownership. Gen 3:6

ALLOWING THE GLORY TO WORK IN AND THROUGH US

  • Pro 18:20-21 Our spirit responds to words. Whether good or bad.
  • Ex 33:18-23 Moses saw what God saw-seeing from the back of God.
  • Gen 13:10 Lot saw the outside. v14-Abraham saw from the inside of God.

Before-From faith to faith (Mark 11:23 whoever -anyone, unbelievers included) How to differentiate an unbeliever from a believer?

Now-From glory to glory (Col 1:15, 2 Cor 3:18)-spirit dimension helps us to change from glory to glory. This is the difference!

HOW DOES GOD'S GLORY OPERATE IN AND THROUGH US?

  • John 17:4-5 We receive His Glory as we do His work to extend His Kingdom I.e. inviting our loved ones to hear the good news.
  • Jn 17:21-22 When we extend the glory to others. By bringing them to Christ.
  • Acts 7:55-60 Heaven is open when we are on assignment. Stephen preached to a tough crowd through the glory (of God).

The Ministers of Reconciliation by Ps Samuel Hari

PURPOSE: God has given us a ministry and message of reconciliation to the world. 2 Cor 5:17-20

Are we telling the world the good news or the bad news? Are we sin focused or righteousness focused? Awake to righteousness 1 Cor 15:33-34; Heb 12:1-2

As MINISTERS of Reconciliation how do we administer the GOOD News (The Gospel) 2 Cor 5:18-21? What is our Job Description?

1.Receive the GIFT: We receive the good news of reconciliation. Restoration of favor and harmony with God through Christ; not our own works.

2.GIVE the gift: We are to share the good news of the gift of righteousness Rom 5:17. By word and deed 2 Cor 5:18.

a.Are we giving license to sin? The world does not need our license to sin.

b.1 Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins; not a condition or a prerequisite but an indication of the working of God in our lives. Comes after v7,8. We cannot convict anyone of sin. Only the power and the presence of God in someone's life can cause them to confess sin.

3.GET the harvest: 1 Tim 2:1-6

a.Our objective is still the same i.e. To bring sinners to repentance before the LORD. The only difference is that our approach is to point out to them the gift of God.

b.Pray for those in authority so that we may practice our faith peacefully. That as a result of our lifestyle of faith many will also come to repentance. To reconcile the world to God.

In applying the principle of 3G in the message of reconciliation, we must always remember the other 2G.

1.Put GOD in the midst of all these i.e. God gives us the GIFT of righteousness, salvation so that we can GET the harvest by GIVING them the message of reconciliation. GOD alone gets the GLORY.

2.We administer the gift through His GRACE that is freely already available.

Conclusion
We are the MINISTERS OF RECONCILIATION through Christ Jesus. Let's fulfill our purpose and destiny.

Why Evangelism? by Ps Samuel Hari

GOD'S PURPOSE REVEALED

Gen 1:27-28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them,"Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

2 Cor 5:18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,

The purpose of mankind was to reproduce after our kind. This purpose of God was given back to us as we became New Creation in Christ Jesus. God's intention is that everywhere we go becomes the garden of Eden. This means our homes, communities, schools, workplaces, etc. There is no reason for complaining and grumbling. His purpose is that we be fruitful and multiply.

GOD'S POWER MANIFESTED

Acts 1:8;

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Acts 2:41 (3000 souls added)‏

Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

God did not leave us simply with a purpose but He has given us the power of the Holy Spirit to be able to be His witnesses. We are not powerless but powerFUL! Why are we not seeing it? Because we do not realize that it's there and try to witness in our own strength. God is already at work in the world reconciling the world to Himself.2 Cor 5:19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation

GOD'S PRESENCE AVAILABLE

Matt 28:18-20

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

There is no place for dryness in a Christian is constantly witnessing. A little introspection is good but not too overly introspective. The harvest is ripe all around us. We need to only lift up our eyes and see.

As we fulfill God's purpose, God's power is manifested and His presence is available for us.

Why we should give our lives to share the Gospel.
by Dr Peter Chin

We are in the business of ‘making disciples’ - Great Commission

1. God did not call the angels to preach the Gospel. God has given us this awesome privilege to witness for Him.

2. The modern church has many sins. Ranking high in the sins of the modern church is the sin that we would not dream of as a sin – the sin of silence. – failing to witness JC to this dying world.

Why we as Christians should be giving our lives to share the Gospel of JC?

A. COMMISSION OF JESUS 2 COR. 5:17-20

Command

the supreme duty

the supreme command.

B. COMPASSION OF JESUS - Jonah; Jude 21-23;Ps 126:5-6

OUR TEARS -
Missing element in our life. Ps. 126:5-6, Matt. 9:36, Rom 9:2

PEOPLE DON’T CARE HOW MUCH YOU KNOW UNTIL THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE.

  • Romans 8:9
  • Going – Sowing – Weeping - Reaping
  • If we want to grow in our spiritual life, the answer is share the Gospel to others.
  • If you want your Christian life to be exciting, you must continue to share the Gospel
  • I pray that you will dare enough and care enough to share the Gospel. To say, Lord, any time, anywhere, any cost, I will go.
  • God has put feet on our faith to take the Gospel everywhere. Start where you are!

C. COMPETENCY IN JESUS Act 1:8; 2 Cor. 3:5

- Jesus has called us to a life of faithfulness not success. On the contrary, He has also called us to a life of fruitfulness. John 15

The COMPETENCE / adequacy of Jesus in us through the HS – will overcome our fears and reluctances to share the Gospel.

We must know who we are in Christ to begin with to be effective in sharing the Gospel. Then to know that He has deposited the HS power in every child of God to make contagious and mighty witnesses in this land.

He will make you able and adequate to accomplish His task.

Our Christian Response
by Rev Samuel Hari

Luke 21:13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. 14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. 18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. 19 By your patience possess your souls.

1. An Occasion for testimony
We have prayed together with Christians in Malaysia and in many parts of the world. After having prayed, we may of may not have received the outcome we expected. So how do we respond? We have to believe that God has the better, best plan.
We need to come to the realization that every adversity is an opportunity for growth.
With every TEST there is a TESTIMONY.
Esther used her occasion as a testimony. She spoke up and God will raise many Esthers, Mordecais’ in this land for such a time as this.

2. Settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer;
Not to use human reasoning or methods i.e. spread hatred, bitterness, anger, violence, rioting, etc. The moment we are bitter, we lose the battle. When we encounter adversity, things don’t turn out the way we pray, desire, we can either become BITTER or BETTER. Bitterness closes the door for God to move in our nation and in whatever situation we are praying over. God moves only through one channel; LOVE.
Rom12:2 ; 1Jn 4:18

3. I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.
Not an earthly wisdom. 1 Cor 1:12-16 (NKJV).
He’s going to give us a different kind of mouth.
It’s a time of training the believer in all godliness for the events that are to come. We must begin to condition our spirit-man. An occasion to be transformed from worldly, carnal thinking to godly thinking and a way of life that follows that pleases the Father and brings forth a testimony to the world. That we may prove.
Rom 12:2b

4. You Will Be Hated By All For My Name’s Sake.
The outcome of this situation is in fact well within the plan of God! They cannot understand because it is foolishness to those who do not know.
1 Cor 1:18-21

5. Not A Hair Of Your Head Shall Be Lost.
We need to understand that whatever the outcome, we will never lose out; even if we are put to death through physical death of death by defamation (at work, home, the press). We have the victory!

6. By your patience possess your souls.

Patience: cheerful (or hopeful) endurance, constancy: - enduring, patience, patient continuance (waiting).

Don’t let your soul/emotions run wild. Don’t let it take the carnal, worldly course (anger, retaliation, bitterness). The key is through your patience. Let the fruit of patience increase through situations like these…When pray or desire patience, God uses situations like these.

Will you be the Esthers’ and Mordecais’ of today? At your work, school, business?
