Fighting the Good Fight of Faith by Samuel Hari

Over the process of time and trials, many of us may surrender and trust and even obey for a season but how many of us have persevered in trusting God. One of the hardest concepts to understand is “WAIT!” Notice that deep down inside, that is the one word we don’t want God to say? We don’t mind “NO” and of course we want “YES”. But “WAIT!” How long? Why?

Again let’s look at the WOG for strength and guidance in developing PERSEVERANCE.

Scriptures:

1 Tim 1:18-19

  1. One aspect is personal prophecy. More importantly, what does God’s revealed word say to us everyday? We need to personalize the WOG daily. Confess it daily 1 john 5:14-15 This is the confidence….bringing our words into alignment to the word of God!
  2. This will inspire us and aid us daily to wage the good warfare.
  3. We know that Jesus has won the victory and we live daily by His grace but the enemy is walking about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Pet 5:5-10).
  4. As we surrender and trust, God will give us the strength to obey and persevere. Abraham believed! He had strength to obey and persevere.

1 Peter 5:5-10; 1 Tim 6:12; 2 Cor 4:16-18

  1. We need to realize that our daily life is a fight for the faith. Paul is saying that there will be circumstances (no question about it) DAILY that undermines our faith in God. That’s when we have to realize that the roaring lion is at the door. What are we going to do about it? When we pray for healing and don’t see the manifestation, when we pray for salvation of a loved one and it’s slow in happening? When we are praying for our work situation, family, etc.
  2. In the presence of many witnesses. Get accountable i.e. CG, prayer group.
  3. The prodigal father did not allow hatred or bitterness to grow over the years, but love intensified! He fought the good fight and won!

2 Tim 4:7-8

7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

NKJV

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." Jim Elliot
