7 SYMBOLS OF THE WORD by Bro. Sam T. Joseph

1. The word of God is a sword.
~ Heb 4:12
For the word of God is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. It exposes us for what we really are.

2. The word of God is a hammer that breaks the resistance of the hearer.
~ Jer 23:29
"Does not my word burn like fire?" asks the LORD. "Is it not like a mighty hammer that smashes rock to pieces?"

3. The word of God is a seed.
~ 1 Pet 1:23
For you have been born again. Your new life did not come from your earthly parents because the life they gave you will end in death. But this new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

4. The word of God is a mirror where we see a true reflection of ourselves.
~ James 1:23-25
For if you just listen and don't obey, it is like looking at your face in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you keep looking steadily into God's perfect law – the law that sets you free – and if you do what it says and don't forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

5. The word of God is a fire.
~ Jer 23:29

6. The word of God is a lamp.
~ Ps 119:105
Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.

7. The word of God is food.
~ 1 Pet 2:2
You must crave pure spiritual milk so that you can grow into the fullness of your salvation. Cry out for this nourishment as a baby cries for milk.
~ 1 Cor 3:2
I had to feed you with milk and not with solid food, because you couldn't handle anything stronger. And you still aren't ready.
