EMBRACE THE POWER OF THE WOG.
(Ps. Abel Phillips)
Text: 1 Pet 1:22-25, 2:1-3
Peter Mentions Four Realities / Truths
1. Our lives have been cleaned up by integrating the truth into us (v22) –cleansing
2. We have been born again by a complete type of life (v23-) – a seed of life has been put in us; that is a complete type of life and not a limited type of life
3. Human life is momentary / transitory. (v24) – Grass withers – flowers fades. In everyone of us there is time of flower blooms and there is time it withers/ dries up
4. Spiritual life comes from the word of God. (25)
Peter gives three exhortations:
1. TO LOVE EACH OTHER WITH PURE HEARTS IN A FERVENT MANNER (1 Pet 1:22)
2. PUT ASIDE ALL WRONG MOTIVATIONS (1 Pet 2:1)
3. DESIRE THE SINCERE MILK OF WORD (Pet 2:2)
Two motivational tools mentioned:
1. God is Good.
2. See the need for continual growth through the Word of God.
What we can’t do, the Word of God can
1. The Word of God will cleanse and purify us. Jn 15:3 / Jn 17:17
2. The Word of God Brings healing into our lives Jn 15:7 / Ps. 107:20
3. Produces an avenue to answered prayer – Jn. 15:7
4. Produces the strength / power in our lives.

HONORING YOUR PARENTS
Text: Exo 20:12
The LORD places a high value of honoring our parents. It is so important that scriptures are mentioned both in the New and Old Testament of honoring our parents. By the finished work of the cross and through God’s grace we are able to love them and honor them.
In the Book of Proverbs
(Pro 10:1) A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish and self-confident son is the grief of his mother.
(Pro 15:20) A wise son makes a glad father, but a self-confident and foolish man despises his mother and puts her to shame.
(Pro 19:26) He who does violence to his father and chases away his mother is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.
(Pro 20:20) Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in complete darkness.
(Pro 28:24) Whoever robs his father or his mother and says, This is no sin--he is in the same class as [an open, lawless robber and] a destroyer.
(Pro 30:17) The eye that mocks a father and scorns to obey a mother, the ravens of the valley will pick it out, and the young vultures will devour it. [Lev. 20:9; Prov. 20:20; 23:22.]
In the New Testament
(Mat 10:37) The LORD commands us to love Him more than our families. The reason is that when our priorities in loving Him above all is right, then everything else will be right.
(Mat 15:4) This is how important honoring our parents is to God. Jesus has already died and rose again for us and we don’t have to die again; nevertheless, it is THAT important to God!
(Mat 15:5) Don’t make giving to God or serving God as an excuse for neglecting our parents. Both are important.
(Mat 19:5) Make sure our priorities are right after marriage.
(Mat 19:29) When we look after His business, He will look after ours.
Let this Mother’s Day be a reminder of what God has commanded us through His Word. As we obey Him, our life will be long and blessed!
