The Reason For The Season
Christmas is a season for us to remember that Jesus’ coming to the world is for the purpose of redemption.
Why do we need redemption?
- We have all sinned.
- Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,
- We are deserving of death because of our sins.
- Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- However, Jesus has taken our sins upon himself and died on the cross for all of us.
- Rom 5:8 But God commends His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.
- Therefore, when we receive Jesus into our lives, our death sentence is revoked and we are saved.
- Rom 10:9-10 Because if you confess the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. (10) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation.
- We now have life because the Son of God lives in us.
- 1Jo 5:11-13 And this is the record, that God has given to us everlasting life, and this life is in His Son. (12) He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (13) I have written these things to you who believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have everlasting life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.
Let this Christmas season be a meaningful one as we understand the true meaning of Christmas. Let Christ alone reign in our lives.
